Getting to Cyprus

Cyprus is accessible via Larnaca International Airport, which has connections with many cities across Europe and the Middle East. The airport is located around 3.5 miles from the center of Larnaca. If staying there, you can reach your Cyprus vacation rental via taxi or public transport, but most people will find it much more convenient to rent their own car and travel that way, especially as many of the island’s main attractions are located in hard-to-reach areas. There are also flights into the smaller Paphos International Airport and Ercan International Airport, though these are served by fewer routes than Larnaca.

At Kourion, in the south, you’ll find extensive Ancient Roman ruins. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, there are many buildings to see here. If making use of your Cyprus vacation home during the summer, you’ll be able to see a show at the venue by attending the International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama.

One of the island’s most popular attractions is St. Hilarion Castle, a well-preserved castle that dates back around 1,000 years. Aside from exploring the site, which was used to keep lookout for pirates and other invaders, visitors can also enjoy the view from the top as well as the Kyrenia Mountains, on which the castle is located. Larnaca is a place that combines the old and the new to create a great beach resort. The laid-back atmosphere and many bars mean it’s a great place to spend a day, especially on one of the many beaches that line the shore. Faros and Kastella are both Blue Flag beaches, while at beaches such as CTO and Mackenzie you can try your hand at water sports. There are many beaches, though, so take a tour and see which one is the best fit for you.

Activities for the kids in Cyprus

Children are likely to love Cyprus, whatever you decide to get up to during your stay in a Cyprus vacation home. After all, this beautiful island has plenty of spots for splashing around in the water and building sandcastles.

You will find plenty of organised fun to be had, too. Aphrodite Water Park provides fun for the whole family, with rides, slides and the relaxing ’Lazy River’. There’s also a wave pool, which is a sure-fire hit with older kids. If you want to unwind in peace whilst they conquer the slides, you can choose to relax on one of the many sunbeds that dot the park.

For a different kind of day out, head over to Dinosaur Park, a wooded area where the ancient beasts roam. Not only fun, it offers an educational experience for the whole family. Just do not tell the kids that beforehand!
