To taste local delicacies, you could check some of the area's major festivals held in early fall. Try Trigg County Country Ham Festival, just east of Kentucky Lake, known for having baked the world's largest biscuit, which was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. Each year they bake a 2,000-pound biscuit for visitors to enjoy. Traditional smoked chicken and pork are the focus at the annual Barbecue on the River festival, where bluegrass, classic rock, and jazz music fills the streets in Paducah, Kentucky, just west of the lake.
