Lake Como Vacation Rentals

When to travel

Lake Como enjoys warm weather from around April to October. Swimming in the lake in summer is a wonderful experience but the city and its surroundings can become very busy in July and August. Travel just before or after high season if you would prefer a bit of extra breathing space.

Some attractions close in winter but don't be put off Lake Como could still be a perfect base for a skiing vacation or relaxing city break with fantastic food and a spot of retail therapy in Italy's fashion capital, Milan.

The Gardens of Villa Melzi

You might like to spend a morning or afternoon wandering around these beautiful gardens, which line the lake shore near Bellagio and are known for their colourful azaleas and rhododendrons in springtime. The gardens are open from March to October.

Villa Monastero

With a house, a museum and a botanical garden, this former monastery has plenty to keep you busy. Take a boat from Menaggio or Bellagio and make a day of it.
