It has become famous as a place to watch polar bears as they migrate towards the shore from their inland habitats in autumn. As a result, the town is known as the polar bear capital of the world.

For those who are excited about polar bears, you have the best chance of spotting one from October to November. Many guided tours are available, where you can observe the bears from specially designed vehicles. During July and August, you can witness beluga whales on their migration routes. Snorkeling tours enable you to swim right among these incredible creatures, and you might even see an occasional polar bear on your cruise.
