Annual Hope Boat Days take place in July at Hope Bay, and crowds throng to witness the music and dance sessions, wooden boat-building and spirited rowing races.

At this 27-hole course, golf is played with discs similar to Frisbees, and those of all ages are welcome to try their hand at it. Rugged terrain and beautiful landscapes are an added bonus.

The island is dotted with artist residencies (recommended is the Vern Simpson Studio), craft shops and galleries. Pop in and check out the paintings, glassware, and jewelry among other art forms.

Medicine Beach

Don’t be fooled by the name – this crescent-shaped beach is perfect for long romantic walks with splendid views of Bedwell Harbor. Do grab a coffee and homemade treats at the inviting Slow Coast Coffee.

Mount Norman

Mount Norman is the highest point on Pender Island, and the summit boasts views over to San Juan. If lucky, you might catch a glimpse of Mount Olympus in Washington. Refuel at Vanilla Leaf Bakery Café, and pick some goodies to eat at your accommodation.
