Family Fun at the Museum
Lisbon certainly has plenty to offer for children who love to learn. Take a trip to the Electricity Museum, where you’ll find dozens of interactive displays that will delight kids both big and small.
Alternatively, drop by the Zoological Garden. Not only will you have some close animal encounters, but you can also discover the Children’s Museum, where kids will have the opportunity to play with all manner of toys and games.
Discover Lisbon's Oceanarium
The Oceanário de Lisboa, or Oceanarium, is often considered to be one of the best aquariums in the world. Those visiting Lisbon with kids will want to spend at least half a day exploring the various tanks and pools. This is also a great activity for inclement weather, as the Oceanário is the largest indoor aquarium in Europe.
Tagus River Cable Car Rides
Between stops, you can travel around Lisbon in style by riding a circuit on the city’s tram or catching the cable car alongside the Tagus River. Transportation is cheap but comfortable even for large families, and makes even short journeys that much more exciting.
Late Night Markets and Food Halls
It’s normal for children to stay up late in Portugal, and so you’ll be in good company if you wish to head out for a late meal at one of the city’s many fine eateries. If you fancy an early night, however, you can just as easily pick up ingredients from one of the food halls or markets, like the Time Out Mercado or the Mercado de Campo de Ourique, for a great meal enjoyed in the comfort of your vacation home.
