Oregon Museum of Science and Industry
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is home to over 200 interactive displays as well as eight science labs, each dedicated to different areas of the sciences. Kids and adults alike can get their hands dirty in the paleontology lab or test a 3-D printer before catching an educational movie in the museum's theater.
Washington Park
With over 15 miles of walking trails, Washington Park is a massive public park in urban Portland. The sprawling recreation area has something for the whole family, including several museums, memorials, and an amphitheater.
Oregon Zoo
The Oregon Zoo is located in Washington park and is home to over 250 species of animals. In the wintertime there is a spectacular light show. And alongside other conservation efforts, it also hosts an Asian elephant breeding program.
Portland Japanese Garden
Also within Washington Park is the Portland Japanese Garden. It is considered one of the best in the nation, featuring 5 separate traditional Japanese gardens housed on 5.5 acres of land.
Pittock Mansion
Henry Pittock, the wealthy owner of The Weekly Oregonian newspaper, and his wife Georgiana built the Pittock Mansion in 1914. Owned by the city, the Pittock Mansion offers visitors a glimpse into Portland's past.
